Yeah! says who?

Tempers were really heated leading around Canberra's parliament house leading up to the vote on the Migration Amendment Bill.

This is the one designed to stop asylum seekers before they get close the the Australian mainland.

Federal Opposition Leader, Kim Beazley was in a nose to nose, outside the parliament with Howard's attack dog, 'Iron Bar' Tuckey.

The language was actually more restrained than it is on the floor of the house. The worse it got was Tuckey calling Beazley 'a fat so and so.'

If you are curious to see two Aussie brawlers go at it, the video is HERE.

The bill passed the lower house, despite a number of Liberals crossing the floor. The Seanate is more problematic for Howard.

The vote came after nine hours of debate and more than 20 speakers on the controversial laws, which would send all boat people to island detention centres such as Nauru for processing.

The changes were proposed following a diplomatic row with Indonesia over the granting of asylum to 43 Papuan boat people.Br>

But they outraged government backbenchers who successfully fought last year to water down detention laws so that families, women and children could live in the community while their cases were heard.

Ahhhh it makes me proud to be a rough tough Aussie brawler - go for it fellers!
