DeLay headlining frenzy

The Tom DeLay saga is difficult to just put aside. So much of it goes to the heart of ethical government, in the US and beyond. predictably the resignation has spawned a rash of headlines around the web spur some odd thoughts, others are just odd:
DeLay legacy: Corruption This is an op-ed piece from – Palm Beach Post
Rep. Tom DeLay is leaving Congress. He blames "liberal Democrats," but if he wants to blame someone other than himself - and, of course, he does - Rep. DeLay should blame Republican enablers who were content to let him misuse power so long as they benefited.
A reasonable summary, but as a side thought: How thick skinned are these so-called leaders that they can risk going down in history, their own legacy, as outright crooks? A second thought, given the reigning culture of entitlement, is the blame factor the writer alludes to.

The ‘Legacy’ word pops up in other headlines:
Departing DeLay leaves troubled legacy for GOP Arizona Republic
Or a little more cleverly: DeLay is Gone, But DeLayism Continues, Activists Say Political Affairs Magazine, NY and
The culture of corruption will outlast Tom Delay - Working for Change

I really like the coy: Hurt by taint of corruption, DeLay decides to step down Globe and Mail, Canada
Thos Canadians can be so damned polite! Taint of corruption? I would have thought it was the full, unfiltered sewage works.
Compare that to the ‘pull no punches’: Arianna Huffington: Tom DeLay's 1.3 Million Reasons for Calling It Quits From Yahoo News. Or the even more blunt: Rivera Happy that “Dark Lord” DeLay is Gone.
And cruel but funny: CNN’s Jack Cafferty Calls Tom DeLay “A Cocky Little Bandy Rooster” - NewsBusters

Is the real depth of the man is revealed with this one? DeLay Says He'll File Ethics Complaint Against McKinney. In Human Events they run the story of the parting DeLay, quoting: “If nobody in this House files an ethics charge, I am,” DeLay said in response to a question about McKinney. “Her behavior is outrageous. And it’s not the only time.”
Personally I would have thought that even the “Dark Lord” might have more pressing issues to deal with, notwithstanding his well known concern for ethics.

These are cute, maybe some sub-editors will dine out on them for a few days.

There is also a reminder that the tiny Pacific island protectorate, Guam is a as American as ‘apple pie’ and intertwined with the DeLay story:
