According the Senator Tom Harkin, a Democrat from Iowa, the Bush administration has sided with Australia instead of American wheat growers in the oil-for-food scandal.
Bear in mind, this particular saga of the sandal delivered $300million delivered into Saddam’s hands while the US and partners, including Australia, were preparing for war.
"We've now discovered that the Bush administration advised the Australian Government on how to handle the Australian Wheat Board's growing public problems about its dealings in Iraq," Harkin said.
This story has been building for months now, but not in the US media. There might have been a flurry during Senator Coleman’s tantrum some months ago, but that quickly subsided, apparently because of the exposure to the president.
At the time of posting Harkin had not managed any media outside Australia, from my searches. There are questions to be addressed, in the US as well as in Australia and Iraq on this issue.
Let’s hope someone in he media picks it up soon.
